NOVEMBER MISSION
The last November mission to Bangladesh included the delivery of sewing machines. What is the connection between sewing machines and the journey to Southeast Asia? As we are an organization that cares not only about food aid but also supports heath care, educational and working projects, we thought up, along with Dr Moskala, a project called “Sewing workshops”. Under the auspices of the town Jaromer and thanks to the individual donations, we purchased sewing machines that would help a lot of poor families to earn their living. Traditionally, little children from the Czech Republic and Germany helped to donate this project as well.
The town Jaromer financed the founding and equipping of the workshops where poor women would be learning how to sew and then, after getting the hang of it, they would produce mosquito nets for our organization. This is how they will make their living and, at the same time, they will back up the project that is aimed at giving out mosquito nets to people living in slums. Mosquito nets will protect them from mosquitoes and the malaria that is transmitted by them in the warm and damp climate.
With the help of the airline companies Gulf Air and ČSA, we were also able to deliver a plenty of medicaments and nutritious supplements, stomatological tools, equipment and dioptric glasses. We hope that with your help we will manage to purchase a removable dental x-ray apparatus and have it delivered to Bangladesh.
As it is typical of every mission, we visited several poor schools again and gave out bananas and nutritious supplements to children, including vitamins and calcium tablets. Then, we set off in our mobile ambulance and Dr Moskala treated aching teeth and our Bengali assistants gave lectures on healthy lifestyle.
After the treatment and the lectures had been over, we distributed warm blankets and mosquito nets. Their gratitude was beyond words. Therefore, we would like to thank all the firms and donators who contributed to the purchase of the mobile ambulance. In the Czech Republic we cannot fully grasp the impact of such help. Big thank you to all those who voluntarily helped and did their bit or those who are helping or going to help in the future and are not indifferent to how much these people languish.
We wish you all the best for the New Year 2010 and hope you will be successful in your personal and professional life. (Photos)
